Website design for solicitors: the site a client checks before they instruct

A law firm's website has one job: confirm, in the time it takes to scroll on a telephone, that you do this kind of work, that the people doing it are qualified, that the cost is written down, and that other clients were looked after. We build sites that do exactly that, with a page per practice area, the transparency information where the rules put it, the people and the offices, and an enquiry path on every page. Live in four to six weeks, from £1,200.

The pages

What a firm's site contains, and what each page is for

Six kinds of page. Each has a job for the client, a job for the regulator and a job for Google, and a site that skips one of them loses the instruction at that point.

PageWhat is on itWhat it does
HomeWho you are, the practice areas, the offices, the people, and one clear way to ask for help.Passes the referral check in a scroll
A page per practice areaWhat the service includes, the stages, the timescale, who does the work, the fees where the rules require them, the questions clients ask first.Ranks for 'conveyancing solicitors <town>'
Price and service informationThe pages the SRA Transparency Rules require for the regulated services, written to be read rather than to be compliant.Answers the cost question before the call
PeopleQualifications, year of admission, accreditations, the matters each person takes, a photograph taken this year.Answers 'who will handle my matter'
OfficesOne page per address with the map, the parking, the hours, the people there, matched to its own Google Business Profile.Ranks for the town without a doorway page

The rules

Transparency as a page a client wants to read, not a PDF in the footer

The SRA Transparency Rules require price and service information for certain services, the digital badge, and complaints information. Most firms meet them with a PDF nobody opens. We build the information into the practice pages a client is already reading: the fee or the basis of the fee, the disbursements, what is included and what is not, the stages, how long it takes and who does it. It satisfies the rule, it answers the client's first question, and it gives Google and the AI engines something to quote.

  • Fee and service pages for each regulated service you offer, in plain language
  • The SRA digital badge where it belongs and the regulatory statement in the footer
  • The complaints procedure, the Legal Ombudsman and the SRA, in one page a client can find
  • Your COLP reviews the wording before it goes live; we keep a dated copy

How we build

Our own stack, nothing rented, nothing to patch

Static pages, self-hosted fonts, images in modern formats, structured data on every page, no plugins to update and no template licence. A law firm's site holds nothing sensitive, but it should still be the kind of site that does not need a security patch on a Tuesday night.

  • Accessible by default

Contrast, keyboard, screen readers, plain language. Older clients and clients under stress are most of a firm's visitors.

  • Written for the practice searches

Each practice page targets the searches for that work in your towns, with the client's question answered first.

  • Structured data and Search Console

LegalService, Attorney, Service and FAQ markup, a sitemap, and Search Console so we can see what Google does with it.

  • Enquiries to the right desk

Forms routed by practice area, with an acknowledgement to the client and a copy to the fee earner.

  • Hosting and care

Hosting, the certificate, security, backups, bug fixes and changes such as a new fee earner. A year of it is included with the Practice site and above, and it is £159 a year on its own. The firm can leave with the site at any time.

  • Nothing rented

No page builder, no theme, no subscription. The site runs on any host if we vanished tomorrow.

After launch

The practice searches are earned over months, page by page

Launch gets the firm found by name and, with the profiles matched, for the office. “Conveyancing solicitors” and “family solicitor” with a town on the end are held by firms that have been adding pages, reviews and mentions for years. Catching them is the monthly work, from £399 a month, and the first month of it is free with every site package.

Questions firms ask us

How much does a law firm website cost?

From £1,200 for a small firm's site with five practice areas and the transparency pages, £2,400 for the practice site with up to ten practice areas, offices and team profiles, and £3,000 with the full SEO package built in. The first month of the monthly work is free with every package, and hosting and care is £159 a year on its own. The prices are on the pricing page and they do not change from firm to firm.

Who writes the content?

We do, after a call per practice area with the fee earner who does the work. You correct, we polish. The words are the firm's; the structure, the headings and the parts a search engine reads are ours.

Will you handle the SRA transparency information?

We build the pages and place the information where the rules and a client expect it: fees or the basis of fees, disbursements, VAT, what is included, the stages, the timescale, who does the work, the digital badge, the complaints page. You confirm the figures; your COLP confirms the wording. We are not your compliance officer, and we say so.

Can we keep our domain and email?

Yes. Email does not change; the domain points at the new site and stays in the firm's name. We never move a domain into our own account.

What about our case-management and client portals?

Links, buttons and forms to whatever you use: portals, e-signature, ID checks, online payment. We do not replace them; we make sure a client can find them.

We already have a site. Fix or rebuild?

Send the address. If the site is sound and the problems are pages, fees and the profiles, we fix and quote for that. If it is a page-builder template with stock photographs and a plugin stack, we say so, and the rebuild usually costs less than the fixing.

Find out what your site is costing the firm

Send the address. You get a plain-English review of what a client sees, what the rules require, what Google sees, and a quote for the fix or the build.
