Published fees, as the rules ask of you and as a firm should expect of us

A firm that must publish its own fees should be able to read ours without a meeting. Three site packages, three monthly tiers, and two things that can be bought on their own. The audit says which fits; the arithmetic further down shows whether it pays on the firm's figures.

Websites

Made once, owned by the firm

Each package is built on our own stack, loads in under two seconds on a telephone and passes an accessibility check. They differ in how many practice areas and offices they cover, whether hosting and care are inside, and whether the full SEO package is built in from day one. The first month of the monthly work is free with all three.

Package 1

Essentials

A small firm's site done properly: home, five practice areas, the people, the price and service pages the SRA rules require, complaints information, an enquiry path on every page

£1,200 once

  • Home, five practice-area pages, team, contact, enquiry form
  • Price and service information pages for the regulated services you offer
  • SRA digital badge, complaints procedure, regulatory statements in the right places
  • Written with you: your practice areas, your towns, your way of working
  • First month of the SEO retainer free, then the tier price if the firm carries on
  • Hosting and care bought separately, £159 a year

Most firms

Practice

The standard for an established firm: twenty or so pages, up to ten practice areas, offices, team profiles, fee pages per service, reviews, online booking, and links to the portals you use. It grows past that if the firm takes the monthly work

£2,400 once

  • Up to ten practice-area pages, each with its own fees and timescales
  • Team profiles with qualifications, accreditations and the matters each person takes
  • Office pages for each address, matched to a Google Business Profile each
  • Reviews pulled in with dates, online booking, secure portal and payment links
  • Structured data, sitemap, Search Console; hosting, SSL, security and a year of care
  • First month of the SEO retainer free, then the tier price if the firm carries on

Package 3

Practice + growth

The Practice site with the full SEO package built in from day one, for a firm that wants the site earning from the first month. No page count, because the guides and the monthly pages keep adding to it

£3,000 once

  • Everything in Practice
  • The full SEO package from day one: a profile per office rebuilt, the review routine, the register and directory entries, the first guides
  • First month of the full package included, then the Growth tier price if the firm carries on
  • Hosting, SSL, security and a year of care included
  • Handover report at the end of month one

Hosting and care is included for the first year with Practice and Practice + growth, and £159 a year with Essentials. The first month of the monthly work is free with every package; after it, the tier fees below apply.

The monthly work

Three tiers, one difference: how many towns and offices, and how much is written each month

Three months minimum, then month by month. All three tiers carry the office profiles, the review routine, the technical care, the AI-readiness work and a report written by the person who did the work. The first month is free with any site package.

Without a retainer

Two things a firm can buy on their own

The office profile done properly, once, per office; and a year of hosting and care for a site we built, or for one the firm already runs on our stack.

Per office, paid once

Google Business Profile build

The office profile done properly, once, for a firm that is not ready for a monthly retainer or only needs the map fixed.

£200 once, within 5 working days

  • Claimed, verified or created for the office address, with the postcard or video verification handled
  • Primary category set for the work you want most (law firm, or the specialism), every true additional category added
  • Google's predefined services ticked and your own added: conveyancing, wills, probate, family, employment, with from-prices where the rules already require them
  • Description, opening hours, appointment link, and the office pin on the right door
  • Photo brief for the office and the people, then uploads and captions; no stock
  • Questions and answers seeded from what the reception gets asked
  • Review link and the line to use at the end of a matter; replies to existing reviews
  • Website link tagged so Search Console and Analytics show what the profile sends
  • Competitor profiles with keywords stuffed in the name reported
  • A one-page handover: what to post, how often, what never to touch

Begin the Local tier within 60 days and the £200 is deducted from the first month.

Per year

Hosting and care

Twelve months of everything the site needs to stay up, secure and current, so nobody at the firm has to think about it.

£159 a year

  • Twelve months of hosting on our own servers
  • SSL certificate, security updates and monitoring
  • Daily backups
  • Bug fixes
  • Changes to text and images when something changes

Included for the first year with Practice and Practice + growth. For Essentials sites, and for every site from the second year.

The arithmetic

One conveyancing matter a month covers the tier. Test it on the firm's own figures.

Enter the fee income from an average matter in the department you want to grow, the share of enquiries that become instructions, and the additional matters a month you are after. The result is what the retainer has to bring in, and the number of enquiries at which it breaks even. It is your figures multiplied, not a forecast.

Against Local at £399 a month

Your figures, your maths. It does not predict what Google will send; the audit does that for your town. It shows what the retainer has to produce to be worth it, which is the question to hold us to.

Before you compare quotes

Six questions to put to any agency, including this one

Our answers are on this page. The point of the list is that most quotes cannot answer them, and the gaps are where the money goes.

Which pages, exactly, and who writes them?
A quote that lists the pages and names the writer can be checked. One that says 'a bespoke site' cannot.
Where will the fee information live?
If the answer is a PDF in the footer, the rules are being met and the client is not.
Who owns the domain and the site at the end?
The firm should. A site the firm cannot take with it is a subscription, whatever it is called.
What is in the monthly work, listed?
Pages, profiles, reviews, entries, figures. 'Ongoing optimisation' is not a list.
How will the partners see it working?
Search Console, which the firm has its own access to. A dashboard of the agency's own is not evidence.
What happens at month six if it is not working?
The honest answer is a conversation and a change of plan. A twelve-month contract is the other answer.

What sets the price

Pages and offices, never the size of the firm

Practice areas needing pages, and regulated services needing fee pages. Five practice areas is the smaller site. Ten departments with fee pages for four of them is more writing and more checking, and the price follows the pages.

Offices and towns clients actually come from. One office is Local; several towns is Growth; two or more offices is Multi-office, because each office is its own profile, page and set of reviews.

Competition alters the timescale, not the fee. A city with national conveyancers on page one takes longer, and the audit says so instead of quoting more for the same work.

The month-six test

What the partners should expect to see, and when

Month three: impressions in Search Console rising for the practice searches in the firm's towns. Month six: enquiries traceable to the site and the profiles, or a plain conversation about why not. Month twelve: the arithmetic above coming true, several times over. We would rather hold the month-six conversation than keep invoicing. The figures we already publish are on the results page.

Questions firms ask us

Is our town still free?

Usually, and the reply to the quote form says so. One firm per town on the retainer, or one per practice area where two firms do not compete; whoever starts first holds it.

Why a one-off for the site and a monthly fee for the rest?

Because a site is made once and belongs to the firm, while ranking for the practice searches is work that happens every month: a page, reviews invited, entries checked, figures read. Buy either alone. Every site package carries the first month of the monthly work free, and the third package has the full SEO package built in from day one.

What does hosting and care cover?

Twelve months of hosting on our servers, the certificate, security updates, daily backups, bug fixes, and changes such as a new fee earner or a revised fee. It is included for the first year with Practice and Practice + growth, and £159 a year with Essentials or from the second year. The firm owns the site and can move it at any time.

And after the free month?

The firm decides. Carry on at the tier fee (Local from £399 a month, three months minimum from then) or stop, keeping the site, the profiles and everything done in the month. The free month is the work itself, not a sample: the profiles, the review routine and the first page.

Who is responsible for the regulatory wording?

The firm. We build and place the pages the Transparency Rules describe; the figures come from the firm and the COLP confirms the wording before publication. We keep a dated copy of each version. We are not the firm's compliance adviser.

Can the firm spread the cost?

Half at the start and half at launch is usual. Spreading a build across the first year alongside a retainer is possible; say so on the quote form.

VAT?

Prices are shown without VAT; the position is confirmed on the quote.

Only the profiles?

The one-off below, per office: £200, 5 working days, no retainer, credited against the first month if the firm starts Local within 60 days.

What is excluded?

Photography (we brief; the firm commissions), a domain the firm does not yet own, Google Ads click spend (paid to Google, never marked up), and copy for anything we cannot verify.

Take the audit, then decide

Send the firm's site and the town. You get a plain-English review, the package that fits, and a fixed price. No meeting required, no long contract.
